Return of the Trader
WOW!!! I had never seen anything like this before – all that research and information, and all in one place. And what a deal they offered. Pick up a no-cost package right there at the seminar containing workshop manuals and training DVDs, take it home and study it for a month, and if you don’t like it, your credit card will not be charged the $1000 required to do it.
Like all these seminar deals, there was a “limited supply” and the rush was on! My wife and I agreed it would be worth looking at, so we did.
I could tell you a long story here about the events that occurred over the next 18 months with this company. The first step was to attend a free workshop scheduled for my area soon after. At that time the whole package and how to make a killing in the stock market would be revealed. Should I name them? Why not!
INVESTools is a very slick marketing company, and in my personal opinion, that is all they are. They are excellent at presenting information, building a dream in people’s hearts, and then upselling them to the next level – “advanced” training. “Advanced Options”. “Advanced Technical Analysis”. They do have a very good website, and just about everything you could want to research stocks and options is there. However, nearly all of it is available free elsewhere and all they have done is combined the sources in one website for a very high fee.
In the interestes of keeping this post relatively short (too late!) I will summarize my personal experience with INVESTools. I paid the money and went to the training. In most cases the training syllabus was not completed at the workshops. But they did spend a considerable amount of time to tell you about their “advanced” training and how much more successful we would be if we just spent more on our education. Then there was the upsell to trade FX. [That would be called diversification for INVESTools - suck more money out of existing clients]. Why you should think twice about trading the FX markets will be covered in a future post.
Everything I was taught was what I later learned to be a bunch of regurgitated hooey… the same old crap that everyone else is peddling… more on that later. It should be noted that I didn’t pay to become a “PhD” – just a “Master”. Thank God I didn’t, because most of the people I know who spent twice as much as me (I spent $10k) have now blown out their trading accounts, even though they keep going back for more “advanced” training.
You want a stock tip? Buy INVESTools stock. They really know how to make money!
Cheers,
Terry
